The Des Moines City Council unanimously passed its ambitious climate action plan, ADAPT DSM. The full plan, which you can view here, was nearly two years in the making. The city unanimously set new goals in January 2021, then convened a task force of community stakeholders to guide the drafting of ADAPT DSM. An initial draft of the plan was shared for review by the task force in spring 2023, but a formal public review and vote on the plan was put on hold until after the November 2023 election. Passage of the plan marks a final crowning achievement for outgoing long-time Mayor Frank Cownie. Read more in the Des Moines Register.
